EXPERT LECTURE ON REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING: RECENT ADVANCEMENTS AND CAREER PROSPECTS

Association of Mechanical Engineering, AmalJyothi College of Engineering has organized an expert lecture on 31st August 2019 by Dr. N. Asok Kumar, Professor, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala on the topic “Refrigeration and Air Conditioning: Recent Advancements and Career Prospects for B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering Final year students. The event was funded by Institution of Engineers (India), ACE Students’ Chapter, AJCE Kanjirappally. Head of the Department, Prof. Toms Philips briefed about the activities of the department and Dr. Jippu Jacob, Coordinator – IPR Cell, AJCE delivered felicitation address. After the presentation, Dr. Asok interacted with the students on how to plan the activities of the department association and how to prepare good career opportunities in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in India as well as Abroad.

APPRECIATION MEETING & EXPERIENCE SHARING SESSION

Association of Mechanical Engineering, Amal Jyothi College of Engineering has conducted an appreciation meeting for students who have excelled in technical as well as extra curricular domains during the academic year 2018 – 19 on 19th August 2019. Head of the Department, Prof. Toms Philip addressed the gathering and congratulated the students for their outstanding achievements. Students groups shared their insights on problem formulation, approaches they have adopted for research and sources of project funding that can be applied for the same.

AJCE ME Alumni : Pair wings it with blade idea

Seagulls have inspired Geelong researchers’ new device for “small-scale” production of green energy. Deakin University’s Dr. Jorg Schluter used the shape and function of seagull wings to design a “modern generation” of wind turbine blades. The blades delivered up to 15 percent more power than a conventional wind turbine, his research found. Dr. Schluter said research into small-scale turbines was previously lacking. “We saw the potential to improve the generating capacity of the small-scale turbines and looked to the sky for ideas to improve the blade design “I think many of us have stood at the shoreline at some point in our lives and marveled at sea birds soaring in the breeze, mastering aerodynamics better than anything man-made.” The new design could improve green power generation in remote locations, Dr. Schluter said. “Increasing the capacity of these small-scale turbines make them far more useful for reliable power generation, especially in rural and remote a...

Two day workshop on Human Powered Vehicle (HPV)

A two day workshop on Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) was conducted on 27 th  April and 4 th  May ,2019, by the team SATVAN, from Federal Institute Of Science And Technology. The workshop provided an overview about the HPV competition conducted by ASME during their three day long e-fest. It also provided the participants with key information on topics ranging from basic designing of a HPV to testing and analysis of its various parts.     The first session of the workshop was conducted 0n 27 th  April 2019.The session was started on 10.00 AM by Mr. Krishna Prakash who led Team SATVAN for the last three years during the competition. On the first day the team shared their experiences, the challenges they faced , how they overcame it and the basic outlay of the competition and a human powered vehicle.
