A seminar on the topic ' Bus Body implementation Code AIS 052 in India' by Mr.Arun Joy Kurian , Chief Coordinator, Bus Body Code, M/s Kondody Autocraft India Pvt.Ltd  was held on 21th March 2016 at R.S Auditorium with a packed audience, jointly organized by Association of Mechanical Engineering and ISTE Students' chapter. Bus building code to ensure that buses are built as per stipulated standards related to safety, design and comfort. According to this code (AIS: 052), every bus manufacturing unit will have to obtain accreditation certificate to demonstrate their capabilities to build buses as per the safety standards set by ARAI, which is premier testing and certification agency.As of now, there are no norms with which we can demand bus builders and operators to change their designs that result in cramped journey, extreme heat, intolerable vibration, noise and poor safety standards. “I- RUN 2016 " is a marathon race organized by Mechanical Engineering Department to create awareness on women’s safety. Date : 18 th March 2016 (Friday),  Time : 4.45 p.m. For Boys : Starting Point : St. Dominics Cathedral  Church Ground For Girls : 26 th Mile Junction. Finishing point shall be AJCE Ground. 

Under the ASAP( Additional Skill Acquisition Programme) initiative of the Higher Education dept. of Govt. of Kerala, Amal Jyothi College of Engineering and M/s Kondody Autocraft entered into signing an MoU where the company will support AJCE in the skill training programme by providing the internship of the students under ASAP-DAT scheme. Amal Jyothi College of Engineering and Asian Institute of Petroleum and Construction Technology took a joint venture to form  Asian Amal Jyothi Petroleum and Construction Technology ( AAJPACT )  to bridge the existing skill gap amongst young engineers in the field of mechanical, petroleum, electronic, electrical and allied process industries.   The inauguration of the same was  held at Main auditorium on Thursday, (17-03-16).

Mechanical Engineering Department has adopted computerized cataloging and circulation for its department library for the efficient upkeep of the same. Prof. Manu Moses, Dept. Librarian was instrumental in carrying out the up-gradation.

Six of the staff members from the department were selected as top performing faculty, based on their performance in the academic year 2014- 2015. The college and department congratulated them and appreciated their services towards the college.

An MoU was signed between KELACHANDRA and Amal Jyothi College of Engineering for imparting training to students under, Additional skill accusation programme(ASAP) scheme Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) was carved out with a focused approach to enhance the employability of Students in Higher and General Education stream.The scheme envisages training candidates under Design, Align and Train Scheme . Under this , AJCE will provide theory and practical training on Safety, Measurements, Lathe work, Shaping, Milling, Drilling, Slotting, Grinding, Heat treatment and CNC operations On behalf of M/s Kelachandra Machines- Mr. Philip Thomas, Managing Director On behalf of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering- Rev. In connection with ‘Make in India Campaign’, faculty members of Mechanical Engineering Department had attended Manufacturing Conclave at Kochi on 08 December 2015, organized by Confederation of Indian Industry. The objective of this conclave is to promote smart manufacturing practices in Kerala and also to attract the State as a favorable destination for manufacturing sector. With a growing focus on new technologies and investments within the state and with a revived outlook on entrepreneurship there is a new focus towards this sector. The State is also promoting new industries to set up their base in Kerala in the State owned industrial parks. The State also offers a large pool of trained and talented labour and with the location benefits that the State has, it has all the potential to become a smart destination for manufacturing .

 But just because we think, it doesn't mean that we are coming up with anything very extra ordinary  “Thinking out of the box” - Abi Varghese. Get Inspired By others and thinking out of the box has been the only way to solve issues we face on a day to day basis. With the theory learnt in the class rooms putting stuff into practice takes a lot of pain and perseverance, the result of which are beautiful outcomes are the inventions that define what an how they have learnt their lessons. Visit of  S5 ME-B Students  to the Manufacturing plant of  O/E/N  located in the suburbs of Cochin took place on the 19th of September. T he company was  Established in 1968,  and is a  market leader for Electromechanical Components.  The  Factory infrastructure include fabrication plant for pressed parts, plastic moulded parts,  electroplating facilities, Research & Development Laboratory, sophisticated Tool Room and Quality  Assurance & Test Labs. Apart from regular production, O/E/N  offers facilities for contract  manufacturing and already exports considerable volumes. During the visit the students were familiarized with  state of the art Tool Room with CAD facility, machine shops having  special machines in addition to conventional machine tools,  well equipped Press and Moulding shop attached to the Tool Room, and many other robotic punching and moulding machines....
