National Symposium on Composites : Design, Synthesis and Modelling

Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and Department of Mechanical Engineering, AmalJyothi College of Engineering (AJCE) jointly organized National Symposium on composites: Design, Synthesis and Modelling at the college campus at Kanjirappally from 18th to 20th January 2018.

In these three days Resource persons from various universities covered various important aspects in composites: to understand the concept of natural and synthetic composite materials and their applications, process selection guidelines, thermoset and thermoplastic composite production processes, process parameters, various testing and characterizations, composite design concepts using FEM and computation techniques, ANSYS parametric design for composite structures.

Dr.K.Jessy of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was the Program Chairwoman and Mr.Tony Varghese, the convener.

A total of 30 delegates registered for the symposium. The registered delegates comprised 20 staff from other colleges including 3 delegates from Tamil Nadu and 10 delegates from AJCE.

The symposium was inaugurated by Dr.B.Ramesh, Professor,Mechanical Engineering Department, St.Joseph’s Institute of Technology during a function presided over by the Manager of the college, Rev. Dr. Mathew Paikatt. The Manager congratulated the Evergreen department of this flagship institution under the diocese of Kanjirappally for taking efforts to conduct a symposium in this multidisciplinary field.

 The topic was introduced by Dr.Z.V.Lakaparampil,Principal, AmalJyothi college of Engineering and the delegates were welcomed by Mr.Toms Philip,Head of Mechanical Engineering department. Dr.B.Ramesh in his inaugural speech described the recent developments in and the importance of composite materials.
